Interpretation of Stark broadening measurements on a spatially integrated plasma spectral line

چکیده
In thermal plasma spectroscopy, Stark broadening measurement of hydrogen spectral lines is considered to be a good and reliable for electron density. Unlike intensity based measurements, measurements can pose problem interpretation when the light collected result spatial integration. Indeed, assuming no self-absorption emission lines, intensities simply add up but broadenings do not. order better understand results on our which has an unneglectable thickness, Python code been developed local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) assumption calculated composition properties. This generates simulated pseudo experimental (PE) H$\alpha$ line resulting from integration over thickness in selected direction given temperature profile. The density was obtained using PE different profiles. It resulted that this governed by maximum profile until exceeds 70% 80%

Density measurements using coherence imaging spectroscopy based on Stark broadening.
A coherence imaging camera has been set up at Pilot-PSI. The system is to be used for imaging the plasma density through the Stark effect broadening of the H(γ) line. Local density values are then obtained by the Abel inversion of the measured interferometric fringe contrast. This report will present the instrument setup and proof-of-principle demonstration. The inverted spatial electron densit...
متن کاملStark Broadening of Neutral Helium 5016 Å Line
Plasma spectral line broadening is an important tool for plasma diagnostic in both laboratory and astrophysical field. The neutral helium lines are used e.g., in industrial applications and to determine the properties of stellar atmospheres of hot stars. In local thermal equilibrium, the spectral line profile is related to the dipole autocorrelation function which is related to the two-particle...

The unified theory has been generalized for the case of upper and lower state interaction by introducing a more compact tetradic notation. The general result is then applied to the Stark broadening of h>drogen. The thermal average of the time development operator for upper and lower state interaction is presented. Except for the time ordering it contains the effect of finite interaction time be...
متن کاملSpectral-Kinetic Coupling and Effect of Microfield Rotation on Stark Broadening in Plasmas
The study deals with two conceptual problems in the theory of Stark broadening by plasmas. One problem is the assumption of the density matrix diagonality in the calculation of spectral line profiles. This assumption is closely related to the definition of zero wave functions basis within which the density matrix is assumed to be diagonal, and obviously violated under the basis change. A consis...
متن کاملStark Broadening of Hydrogen Spectral Lines in Strongly Coupled Plasmas: Effect of the Electrostatic Plasma Turbulence at the Thermal Level
In 2014, Kielkopf and Allard (KA) performed a benchmark experiment where they measured the Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) of the Hα line at the electron densities Ne by two orders of magnitude greater than the corresponding previous benchmark experiments, namely up to Ne = 1.4 × 10 20 cm-3. No theoretical calculations of the FWHM of the Hα line existed in this range of Ne. In the present pap...
